Peruvian giant grasshoppers of the genus Tropidacris are the world’s largest, easily reaching lengths of 5 inches and a wingspan of 9 inches when spread.. They are tan or light brown in color with long antennae and powerful hind legs for jumping. This particular specimen is a fine example of the species Tropidacris dux, coming from the Iquitos region of Peru. It has been preserved expertly, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
