Scientifically known as Eucorysses grandis, Jewel stink bugs are small to medium-sized oval-shaped bugs with a body length averaging at 5 to 20 mm, and are capable of releasing pungent defensive chemicals from glands located on the sides of the thorax.
Despite their resemblance to beetles, jewel bugs are hemipterans or true bugs, also known as shield-backed bugs, in the family Scutelleridae. The pattern and coloration of this species can often vary from pale cream to deep red.
