The Wasp (Pepsis heros) is a species of insect belonging to the family Pompilidae, native to Peru and distributed throughout parts of Central and South America. This incredible insect is often sought after by avid entomologists and collectors due to its unique morphology and beauty. Characterized by distinctive black and orange-red stripes across its back, as well as iridescent wings, the Wasp is one of the most captivating insects in existence.

"They are named after their habit of hunting tarantulas, which are often considerably larger than themselves - but these wasps do so with little risk to their own lives." -1

The female Wasp has a unique weapon - its enormous stinger. Measuring up to 12 millimetres in length, this impressive appendage is capable of inflicting serious pain on potential predators. At rest, the stinger folds up neatly beneath the abdomen, ready for use whenever danger threatens.

This preserved specimen is perfect for any collection as it allows you to admire this amazing insect up close without ever having to worry about getting stung! With its beautiful colors, impressive size and defensive behavior, this Wasp makes an excellent addition to any entomology collection or educational display.
